The human voice – The most Ancient instrument

Before there were violins... before there were horns or flutes or trumpets...  before the piano, the timpani, and the xylophone, human beings had singing.  Over millennia, we have changed what we sing, when we sing, and how we sing, but at the center of musical expression, we have always had singing.

Perhaps it is our primordial familiarity to singing that makes it such a powerful form of expression.  Through the synergy of music and words, singers are capable of reaching audiences in ways that an instrument cannot.  This has always been my allure to singing – to move audiences with the artistry of words and music.
